Just four days after the explosion at the LEAP building in Farmington that took one life and left 30 people homeless, Brewer traveled to Farmington to take on Mt. Blue in that team's first game since the tragedy.
It was an important moment for the Cougars and the whole community, and Brewer wanted to show solidarity despite being rivals on the field of play. To that end, Athletic Director Dave Utterback and Brewer High School Principal Brent Slowikowski helped secure yellow and white armbands that the Witches wore during the game out of respect and sympathy for everything the families, school, and the entire Farmington community had been through.
Brewer is proud of its many programs and our student athletes, but never more than in this moment when they looked beyond the game to bigger issues and needs that bind us all together.
