February’s weather was snowy and cold, but our BCS students still found time to get out and enjoy some winter activities. Mrs. Ross and Mr. Dyer’s PE classes introduced snowshoeing to our K-5 students. Prior to February vacation, middle school students participated in Winterfest, offering outdoor fun which included skating and sledding at The Brewer Rec. The 5th graders also enjoyed a day at Penobscot County Conservation Association’s LeVasseur Pond, where students were able to ice skate, sled, and even ice fish!
We welcome March’s rain and mud, but also the promise of warmer temperatures and more sunshine. Soon we will be outside again enjoying Spring sports. Registration is open for Spring Athletics at GoBrewerWitches.com. Reminder, if your student has not previously participated in a sport at BCS, they will require a sports physical to participate.
Until then, March is busy with concerts and performances at Brewer Community School. Don’t forget, No School for students on March 14, Teacher Workshop Day, and an Early Release Day on March 28th.
On Wednesday, March 5, BCS 8th graders went to Brewer High School to take part in Step-Up Day. Led by BHS Student Ambassadors, our students toured the school, listened to a presentation from the JROTC program, and were entertained by students from the Theater Arts class. The Outdoor Education program provided a fantastic finish to the day, with class members belaying students on the climbing wall and supervising team building games on the gym floor. Students enjoyed the activities and a sample of programs/clubs offered at the High School.
