Consent forms were sent home from Brewer High School so that parents and guardians can sign if they want their child to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

With a signed form any student age 16 or older will be able to receive the Pfizer vaccine.

School staff say this will mark a big step towards a return to normalcy.

ā€œOnce we have our students vaccinated if a positive case does come into our school, those students who are in the classroom or a close contact, they wonā€™t have to quarantine, they will be able to stay in school and thatā€™s immensely important,ā€ said Brent Slowikowski, Principal of Brewer High School.

ā€œRight now I only see half of my classmates in my grade,ā€ Sarah Kiley, a student, said. ā€œI think itā€™s going to be good for kids to get vaccinated, to be able to stay in school.ā€

The clinics will be held during school hours next Monday and Tuesday.

Second shots will be given at the beginning of June.
